

Mark Spencer, the creator of Asterisk, has been illuminated by success and at the age of 30 is at the helm of one of the most important companies in the field of free software, a company of great international renown: Digium. Last year the company was injected with risk capital amounting to 13.8 million dollars to enable it to compete on more equal terms with the giants in the world of traditional or IP telephony, such as Cisco Systems, Avaya, Panasonic... In 2006 Mark appeared on the 30 Under 30 list (a list of the most important American entrepreneurs under the age of 30, created by the prestigious Inc.com).
Thanks to the efforts made by Irontec and Avanzada 7 and with the support of SPRI (through Enpresa Digitala), Mark will be in Bilbao in June to give a master lecture on the world of IP telephony. The lecture will take place in the most striking and international setting that exists in Euskadi, the museo Guggenheim Bilbao, where it is expected that the presence of Mark Spencer and Asterisk will motivate the more than three hundred telephony and telecommunications companies in Euskadi, Spain and Europe to attend the lecture.
